Backpack, tote or messenger: which work bag should I choose?

Distance decides it. A backpack such as the Finchley or Canfield Roll Top is the comfortable answer for anything over about twenty minutes, because both shoulders share the load. Will my work laptop fit?

Most of the range includes a padded laptop sleeve, and the medium and large sizes are the ones to look at for a full-size work laptop. The exact size each sleeve takes varies between styles, so check the product page against your machine before ordering. Can one bag cover work and the gym?

Yes, with one caveat. A roll top backpack handles both because it expands when kit goes in, and the duffel styles are the natural choice if you train most days. What to avoid is a single compartment holding a laptop and damp kit together, so use the interior pockets to keep them apart, or keep trainers in a bag inside the bag.

How are ROKA London work bags different from a standard office bag?

Two ways. The materials: recycled nylon and matte recycled canvas spun from plastic bottles, weather-resistant, vegan, from a certified B Corp, rather than coated leather or virgin polyester. And colour: a work bag does not have to be black, which is why the range runs through teal, saffron, avocado and orchid alongside the neutrals.
